What Colorado requires on your label

The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Colorado's rules.

  1. 1
Producer name and the address where the food was prepared
Your legal or business name and the preparation address (CRS 25-4-1614).
  2. 2
Producer phone number OR email address
Colorado requires current contact info on the label.
  3. 3
    Identification of the product
For example, "Sourdough Bread" or "Strawberry Jam".
  4. 4
    Production date
Colorado requires a clearly marked production date on every package.
  5. 5
    Complete list of ingredients
    Include sub-ingredients for compound items.
  6. 6
    Required statement
Exact wording is below. It includes the allergen notice, so no separate allergen statement is mandated (listing allergens present is still smart).
Required wording, added to your label automatically
This product was produced in a home kitchen that is not subject to state licensure or inspection and that may also process common food allergens such as tree nuts, peanuts, eggs, soy, wheat, milk, fish, and crustacean shellfish. This product is not intended for resale.
  • At the point of sale, a placard must conspicuously display: "This product was produced in a home kitchen that is not subject to state licensure or inspection. This product is not intended for resale."
  • HB26-1033 (signed June 4, 2026) rewrites labeling effective January 1, 2027: a CDPHE registration number, county of preparation instead of the street address, and an illness-reporting website will be required.
  • Keep a clean per-product sales log to demonstrate compliance with the sales cap.
