What Delaware requires on your label

The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Delaware's rules.

   Name of the Cottage Food Establishment

   Your business name or legal name.

   Town/city, Delaware

   The full street address is NOT required on the label; town or city plus "Delaware" satisfies the rule (16 Del. Admin. Code 4458A-8.2.1).

   Phone number or email of the CFE

   At least one way for customers to reach you.

   Product name

   e.g. "Banana Bread".

   Net weight or unit count

   Weight or a simple count (e.g. "6 cookies").

   Date of production or lot number

   Every package needs one or the other.

   Ingredients in decreasing order by weight

   If the label is too small, ingredients may be made available on request instead.

   Allergen source names

   Name the major allergen sources unless already obvious from the ingredient name.

   Required disclaimer

   Exact wording below, in at least 10-point type in a color contrasting with the background.

• The word NOT is capitalized in the regulation; keep it that way.
• All label text must be at least 10-point type in a contrasting color.
• Sample labels must be submitted with the registration application; DPH reviews them as part of approval, and the CFE certificate must be displayed at every in-person sales venue.
