What New Hampshire requires on your label

    RSA 143-A:12 allows a physical OR email address, plus a phone number. No registration-number substitute.

    e.g. "Apple Cider Donuts".

    Ingredients in descending order of predominance by weight
    Include sub-ingredients of compound ingredients.

    Major allergen declaration
    Milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
  6. 6
    Product code
    A batch/lot number or the date of manufacture; required for exempt operations too (He-P 2310.01).

    Required statement in 10-point contrasting type
    Exempt operations use the statement below; licensed homestead operations use "This product is made in a residential kitchen licensed by NH DHHS".
Required wording, added to your label automatically
This product is exempt from New Hampshire licensing and inspection.
  • The statement must be at least the equivalent of 10-point font in a color providing clear contrast to the background.
  • Licensed operations must also show net weight/volume/count in US customary and metric units (He-P 2311.04); for exempt labels it is best practice.
  • Exempt operations may also sell at retail food stores under RSA 143-A:12.
