What Georgia requires on your label

The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Georgia's rules.

   Business name of the cottage food operator

   Your business name or legal name.

   Address OR a GDA-issued identification number

   You may request an ID number from the Georgia Department of Agriculture in writing and print it instead of your home address (O.C.G.A. 26-2-473).

   Telephone number

   A phone number where customers can reach you.

   Required statement in at least 10 point font

   Exact wording is below. It carries the allergen notice, so Georgia law requires no separate ingredient or allergen list (including them is still smart practice).

   Best practice: ingredients and allergens

   Not legally required since HB 398 (July 1, 2025), but listing ingredients in descending order and the Top 9 allergens protects your customers and you.

• HB 398 (effective July 1, 2025) replaced the old all-caps GDA statement; the wording above is the current statutory language.
• For unpackaged items the same information goes on a placard at the point of sale; for online sales it goes on the product webpage.
• Retailers selling cottage products must place them in a clearly identified cottage food section.
