What Alabama requires on your label

The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Alabama's rules.

    Product name (common or usual name)
    e.g. "Sugar Cookies".

    Name of the cottage food operation
    Your business name or legal name.

    Home address or P.O. Box
    A P.O. Box may be used in place of the home street address.

    Ingredients in descending order of predominance
    Include sub-ingredients of compound ingredients.

    Two required statements
    The no-inspection statement below AND the sentence "This product may contain allergens." Both must appear.
Required wording, added to your label automatically
This food is not inspected by the Department of Public Health. This product may contain allergens.
  • All required label elements, not just the statements, must be in at least 10-point font.
  • Net weight is recommended by ADPH but not mandatory.
  • Alabama issues no registration number, so the address (or P.O. Box) must appear on the label.
