Texas Cottage Food
Label Maker
Every label you make here includes what Texas law requires: the exact disclaimer wording, allergen statement, ingredients, and producer info. Design it, download it, stick it on the box.
What Texas requires on your label
The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Texas's rules.
- 1Common or usual name of the producte.g. "Sugar Cookies" or "Banana Bread".
- 2Name of the cottage food production operationYour business name, or your own legal name.
- 3Address, OR your DSHS unique ID numberOperations registered on the DSHS Online Licensing Registry may print the DSHS-issued identification number instead of the physical address (SB 541, effective September 1, 2025).
- 4Allergens presentDisclose the major allergens present in the product. A full ingredient list is voluntary in Texas, though good practice.
- 5Required disclaimerThe exact all-caps statement below (current wording effective September 1, 2025).
- 6TCS foods only: production date and safe handling instructionsThe prescribed wording "SAFE HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: To prevent illness from bacteria, keep this food refrigerated or frozen until the food is prepared for consumption" in at least 12-point type.
- 7Pickled, fermented, or acidified foods only: batch numberEach batch must be identifiable.
Required wording, added to your label automatically
THIS PRODUCT WAS PRODUCED IN A PRIVATE RESIDENCE THAT IS NOT SUBJECT TO GOVERNMENTAL LICENSING OR INSPECTION.
- The all-caps statement replaced the older "made in a home kitchen" wording on September 1, 2025; no point-size rule attaches to it (the old 11-point rule died with the old wording).
- Only allergens present must be disclosed; a full descending-order ingredient list is not legally required in Texas.
