New Mexico Cottage Food
Label Maker
Every label you make here includes what New Mexico law requires: the exact disclaimer wording, allergen statement, ingredients, and producer info. Design it, download it, stick it on the box.
What New Mexico requires on your label
The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from New Mexico's rules.
- 1Producer name and home addressYour legal or business name and the address where the food was prepared.
- 2Producer phone number AND email addressNew Mexico requires both contact methods on the label (NMSA 25-12-3).
- 3Common name of the foodFor example, "Pinon Cookies" or "Sourdough Bread".
- 4Ingredients in descending order of predominanceInclude sub-ingredients for compound items.
- 5Required statementExact two-sentence wording is below and must appear on every package. It covers the allergen notice, so no separate allergen statement is mandated (listing allergens is still smart).
Required wording, added to your label automatically
This product is home produced and is exempt from state licensing and inspection. This product may contain allergens.
- For phone or custom orders the required notice may be given verbally; for bulk or online sales a placard or the product webpage can carry it.
- Net quantity is not mandated by the Homemade Food Act, but adding it is good practice.
- Labels must be in English. Other languages are welcome in addition.
