What Wyoming requires on your label

The label maker below handles all of this for you. Here is the checklist it follows, straight from Wyoming's rules.

   Direct sales: inform the consumer

   No label is legally required for direct-to-consumer sales; you must simply inform the buyer that the food is not certified, labeled, licensed, packaged, regulated, or inspected. A label or placard is the easiest proof.

   Retail or grocery-store sales: required statement

   The exact statutory statement below, clearly and prominently labeled, with products kept on separate shelves from licensed goods.

   Best practice: producer name, contact, product name, ingredients, allergens

   Not mandated for direct sales, but expected by customers and markets, and this label maker includes them.

• The verbatim statement above is only mandatory for sales through third-party retail locations or grocery stores (W.S. 11-49-103(k)); retail spaces must also display a not-inspected sign.
• For direct sales, any wording that informs the consumer satisfies the law.
• The Food Freedom Act caps producers at 250,000 items and $250,000 gross revenue annually.
